Prayer Is the Key

Prayer Is the Key Within this week, God showed me something great and powerful. I am an aspirant of the  Cyber Security Science  course at the University of Jos, and the school has been giving admission through JAMB — the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, the body responsible for all tertiary admissions in Nigeria. But each time I checked my JAMB portal, all I saw was  “Not Admitted.” People with the same qualifications and scores as me were already celebrating. But not me. I was worried. My WAEC/NABTEB results were good, my JAMB score was good — yet nothing was happening. So I decided to fast and pray. I managed to pray, but the fasting didn’t go well because Satan had his way in distracting me. Still, I prayed earnestly that God should look upon me with mercy and give me this admission. Right there in prayer, God answered. I didn’t hear a voice, but I received  peace inside me  — strong, quiet assurance. That was on Thursday around 8pm. Around 3a...

Praise: A Small Yet Powerful Catalyst

Praise: A Small Yet Powerful Catalyst By Nasarah Peter Dashe There are moments in life when we feel overwhelmed by everything happening around us. Even though our faith remains strong, it still feels like we are losing the battle day by day. This is where PRAISE comes in. A Season of Shame and Mockery There was a time in my life when it seemed as if anything I touched would spoil. Truly, it was a painful season. People mocked me. They even created a name out of my mistakes. Whenever someone made a mistake, instead of saying, “So and so made a mistake,” they would say, “So and so made a Peter.” I had become the definition of error. It was heartbreaking. I prayed—again and again—but nothing changed. I knew I was not a mistake, yet everything around me suggested otherwise. The Turning Point: Praise Instead of Complaints One day, I got tired of praying the same prayers while seeing no improvement. So I switched to praise and worship . Whenever I touched somethi...

Light of the World

Light of the World By Nasarah Peter Dashe Can you light a candle and then hide it under a cover? Absolutely not — because if you cover it, the purpose of lighting it is defeated. A candle is meant to shine, to be seen, and to drive away darkness . This is exactly what Jesus meant when He called us the light of the world . If you are in Christ, it is mandatory — not optional — to let your light shine so that the world will know whom you believe in. And when you shine, you lead many into the knowledge of Christ. Light in a Dark World Imagine walking through a deep, dark forest with a torchlight in your hand. Will you continue walking in darkness, or will you switch on the light? Of course, you will turn it on. That is how this world is — full of darkness, full of evil, full of confusion. And you, as a believer, are holding a spiritual torchlight. You must turn on the light of the gospel to illuminate others and draw them into the waiting arms of Jesus Christ. When ...

Love: The Christ-Like Nature

Love: The Christ-Like Nature By Nasarah Peter Dashe Love is a strong, positive emotion — an expression of compassion, goodwill, and genuine concern toward people we cherish unconditionally . Jesus demonstrated this kind of love toward us. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 This is the highest form of love. And just as He showed it to us, we are expected to show it to: our brethren in church, our family members, strangers, and even those who have not yet accepted Jesus. The Church of Old — A Model of Christ-like Love In Acts 2:44–47 , we see a powerful picture: Believers continued with one accord They broke bread together They sold their possessions They supported the needy They lived in unity and joy What manner of love is this? No wonder the people of old looked at them and said: “These are Christians — followers of Christ.” Why? Because they displayed the nature of Jesus , which is love. The Commandme...

Repentance: The Ultimate Solution

Repentance: The Ultimate Solution By Nasarah Peter Dashe The world might seem like a pleasant place — until you get a taste of God’s goodness. Are you suffering? Are you tired of life’s endless challenges? Then this is the right time to consider coming to Jesus . It might sound old-fashioned, unpopular, or even strange, but Jesus remains the only true solution ever given to man. Is Following Jesus Worth It? Perhaps you're asking: “Are Christians not suffering too? How will surrendering to Jesus make any difference in my life?” The truth is: Not everyone who claims to follow Christ actually does. Some are Christians, but lack faith in the power of Jesus. But a true believer — one who fully trusts in Jesus — will never be abandoned by God. King David once testified: “I was young, and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging bread.” — Psalm 37:25 That’s the promise of God. If anything else is happening, it is eith...

Abortion Is Equally Murder

Abortion Is Equally Murder By Nasarah Peter Dashe Abortion is defined as the removal of a fetus from the womb before normal delivery in such a manner that causes the death of the baby. Whether it’s called voluntary abortion or therapeutic abortion , the fact remains — it ends a life God created . The Bible reminds us that children are gifts from the Lord (Psalm 127:3). Every gift from above is meant to be valued, protected, and preserved — not destroyed. A Real Story: NECO Examination and the Fear of Exposure In 2022, just before NECO (National Examination Council) exams — one of Nigeria’s major school certificate exams — there was a young lady in my class. While waiting for the exam date, someone mentioned that pregnant girls would not be allowed to sit for the exam unless they were married. Immediately, the girl burst out nervously: “Jesus! I just hope I’m not pregnant.” Her panic said it all — she had already eaten the forbidden fruit. Acting out of fear, she whis...

Anger: The Silent Destroyer

Anger: The Silent Destroyer By Nasarah Peter Dashe Anger is a natural emotion — but when left unchecked, it can become a force so destructive that it ruins both the carrier and the target . No one plans to destroy their life with anger, but many do — without noticing until it’s too late. The Reality of Anger Anger is like fire: 🔥 It can warm a house when controlled. 🔥 But the same fire, if unleashed, can burn that very house down. Many people today are in prison, in debt, or far from friends and opportunities — not because they lacked destiny, but because they couldn’t control their anger. Some marriages broke because someone lashed out in a moment they should’ve been silent. Some relationships ended because someone spoke words they could never take back. You can be right and still angry , but anger can cost you more than the thing you were right about. A Bible Warning “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.” — Ephesians 4:26 The...

Emotion: A Dangerous Guide

Emotion: A Dangerous Guide By Nasarah Peter Dashe Emotion is a stirring of the mind or soul — a strong feeling, whether pleasant or painful, that can disturb our judgment and lead us toward actions driven more by impulse than by truth. It is powerful. It is real. But most importantly: emotion is not always spiritual direction. A Pastor With a Political Dream There was once a man — a pastor — who stood before his congregation and declared that he wanted to contest in the next gubernatorial election. He spoke with passion — claiming that God had revealed to him the failures of the current and past leaders. He was convinced he had been chosen to make a difference. The people listened — moved, some even to tears — and believed him. He listed several failings in the current leadership: Transparency The leaders were not honest with public funds. He claimed that only someone God-fearing could fix such corruption. Good Governance He said, “The current leaders do not car...

Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child: A Hidden Mystery in Parenting

Image
Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child: A Hidden Mystery in Parenting By Nasarah Peter Dashe There’s an old saying taken from the Bible: “Spare the rod and spoil the child.” Yet today, many parents — blinded by modern opinions — are unknowingly destroying their own children with over-pampering . We live in a generation where some parents equate discipline with wickedness . While trying to be “kind,” they fail to correct, and in the end, that is the true wickedness. A Tale of Two Daughters A woman was being interviewed one day. When asked if anyone lived in her home aside from her nuclear family, she smiled and said yes — her husband’s cousin’s daughter Amanda, aged 15. She explained that Amanda had been living with them for almost seven years, ever since her mother died in an accident. Meanwhile, she had her own daughter, now 12. The interviewer leaned in and asked: “So between Amanda and your daughter, who helps you most with house chores?” Without hesitation, she repli...

When Fear Makes Us Sink: Lessons from Peter and a Hospital Bed

When Fear Makes Us Sink: Lessons from Peter and a Hospital Bed By Nasarah Peter Dashe Two weeks ago, on a quiet Wednesday afternoon, a phone call shattered our peace. The message was blunt and terrifying: “Someone attacked your sister in the village. She was beaten terribly and is in a critical condition.” Before we could fully process it, my elder sister rushed home to attend to her. For days I called to ask for updates, and the response was always, “Thank God, she’s getting better now.” But the truth was far from that. Her condition was worsened by hidden internal injuries. It wasn’t until they brought her to JUTH (Jos University Teaching Hospital) that I truly saw the horror — bruises, swelling, and the unmistakable signs that someone had intentionally tried to kill her. That was when fear began to take over. Then came the avalanche: Oxygen costs, Surgery, Blood transfusion, And hospital bills that had no mercy. On top of that, I’m still waiting for adm...
