Prayer Is the Key
Prayer Is the Key
Within this week, God showed me something great and powerful. I am an aspirant of the Cyber Security Science course at the University of Jos, and the school has been giving admission through JAMB — the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, the body responsible for all tertiary admissions in Nigeria.
But each time I checked my JAMB portal, all I saw was “Not Admitted.”
People with the same qualifications and scores as me were already celebrating.
But not me.
I was worried. My WAEC/NABTEB results were good, my JAMB score was good — yet nothing was happening. So I decided to fast and pray. I managed to pray, but the fasting didn’t go well because Satan had his way in distracting me. Still, I prayed earnestly that God should look upon me with mercy and give me this admission.
Right there in prayer, God answered. I didn’t hear a voice, but I received peace inside me — strong, quiet assurance. That was on Thursday around 8pm.
Around 3am the next morning (Friday), I had a dream. I was busy doing something — I can’t even remember what — when suddenly a man lifted something like a banner high up in the air. On the banner was a bold, clear word:
“CONGRATULATIONS.”
Hallelujah!
When I woke up, I forced myself to fast that Friday. Around 11am, I prayed again. There was no internet connection to check my portal, but something within me kept pushing:
“Check again.”
Later around 9pm, I finally checked — and the same word I saw in the dream appeared on my JAMB portal:
“CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE BEEN OFFERED ADMISSION.”
I was overwhelmed with joy. My prayer was heard.
But something shocked me even more:
When I proceeded to pay so I could print my admission letter, I noticed the timestamp.
I was offered admission at exactly 11am.
That means that while I was praying, God was working a miracle.
Praise God!
Immediately, I remembered the story of Daniel.
When Daniel prayed, God immediately sent an angel with the answer — but the devil resisted the angel for 21 days until Michael came to help.
This is found in Daniel 10:12–13, where the angel told Daniel:
“From the first day you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before God, your words were heard… But the prince of Persia resisted me twenty-one days, until Michael came to help.”
In my own case, I saw a man in the dream carrying a congratulations banner. But the devil kept me too busy, too distracted, too tired to rise up and take it.
It was after I prayed again that God fought for me and placed the banner into my hands.
Before this experience, I did not understand the true mystery of prayer.
But now I know what prayer can do.
No wonder the Bible tells us to pray in all seasons, because there is an adversary standing against our blessings.
Do not underestimate the power of prayer.
God Himself said:
“Call upon Me and I will answer thee.”
— Jeremiah 33:3
James also said:
“You have not because you ask not.”
— James 4:2
Prayer is the key.
And nothing — absolutely nothing — can stop what God has already released.
