Light of the World

Light of the World

By Nasarah Peter Dashe

Can you light a candle and then hide it under a cover?
Absolutely not — because if you cover it, the purpose of lighting it is defeated.
A candle is meant to shine, to be seen, and to drive away darkness.

This is exactly what Jesus meant when He called us the light of the world.
If you are in Christ, it is mandatory — not optional — to let your light shine so that the world will know whom you believe in. And when you shine, you lead many into the knowledge of Christ.

Light in a Dark World

Imagine walking through a deep, dark forest with a torchlight in your hand.
Will you continue walking in darkness, or will you switch on the light?

Of course, you will turn it on.

That is how this world is — full of darkness, full of evil, full of confusion.
And you, as a believer, are holding a spiritual torchlight. You must turn on the light of the gospel to illuminate others and draw them into the waiting arms of Jesus Christ.

When Light Appears, People Are Drawn to It

Think of what happens during rainy seasons or at night when the sky is dark.
The moment you switch on a lamp outside, insects gather around it.

Why?
Because they want to enjoy the light you are enjoying.

The Bible says:

“The harvest is truly ripe, but the laborers are few.”

You will never know how hungry people are for the truth until you carry your light into the world. Many are waiting, desperate, broken, confused, searching — and your light may be the only one they will ever see.

Do Not Be Ashamed of the Light

Don’t be ashamed to share the truth.
Don’t worry about what people will say.

Remember: Jesus came and died for this world. If He wasn’t ashamed of you, why be ashamed of Him?

Jesus said:

“If you deny Me before men, I will deny you before My Father.”

So preach the gospel boldly.
Let nothing stop you —
Not death,
Not hunger,
Not poverty,
Not riches,
Not persecution,
Not enjoyment.

People commit all kinds of sins openly without shame. They smoke in public, hold hands with their girlfriends, brag about their evil — and yet a believer carrying a Bible will hide it when he sees his friends.

What exactly are you ashamed of?
The Bible?
Or God?

Has carrying the Bible suddenly become a crime?
Rise up and stand for the truth.

Let Your Light Shine

Do not hide your light.
Do not bury your calling.
Do not silence your voice.

Because in the end, you will give account of the light God placed inside you.

Shine.
Preach.
Stand.
And lead others to Christ.
