Blessings That Cannot Be Reversed

By Nasarah Peter Dashe

Balak was the king of the Moabites, and when he heard that the Israelites — a people who had come out of Egypt — were moving through the land with great strength and victory, fear overtook him. Israel had defeated nations stronger than Moab, and their fame spread across kingdoms. Balak knew he could not defeat them physically, so he sought a spiritual strategy. He believed that if Israel could be cursed, then they would become weak and easy to conquer.

This was why he sent for Balaam. Balaam was known as a man whose words carried spiritual weight. Balak said to him, “He whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.” (Numbers 22:6). Balaam prepared altars and was ready to speak disaster over Israel, but the moment he opened his mouth, blessings came out instead of curses. God Himself took over his tongue.

Balaam then declared, “How shall I curse whom God hath not cursed? Or how shall I defy whom the LORD hath not defied?” (Numbers 23:8). Standing from the mountain and beholding Israel, he even added, “Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!” (Numbers 23:10). Balak was furious. He had hired Balaam to destroy Israel spiritually, but Balaam could only bless, because heaven refused to release curses on those God had already chosen.

Balak attempted again, hoping Balaam would change his declaration, but Balaam responded, “Must I not speak what the LORD has put in my mouth?” (Numbers 23:12). Balak wanted curses; God released blessings. Balak wanted Israel to fall; God lifted Israel higher. Balak wanted their destruction; God multiplied their greatness.

This is the true mystery of divine protection: when God sets His seal of blessing upon a person, no incantation, no divination, no spiritual attack, and no human voice can reverse it. Israel was protected not because of their physical strength, but because God Himself stood as their defender. Scripture says, “He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121:4). When God blesses you, no man can undo it. When God covers you, no arrow can break through. When God speaks over you, no enemy can override His voice.

So if God has blessed you, there is no Balaam, no Balak, no altar, no jealous mouth, no conspiracy, and no darkness that can cancel it. What God has spoken over you cannot be rewritten by any man.
